“Unless you know yourself, you don’t truly know others.”

For more than three decades, Dr. Hasan has devoted his career to understanding the human mind through clinical care, research, teaching, and healthcare leadership. His professional journey has included appointments at Columbia University, NYU Langone Health, Bellevue Hospital, Northwell Health, Stony Brook Medicine, and NYC Health + Hospitals, where he has served in roles ranging from researcher and educator to Chief of Psychiatry and Vice Chair.

Today, his focus is private practice, where he helps individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves—not simply to reduce symptoms, but to cultivate insight, resilience, and lasting change. He believes the most meaningful treatment empowers patients to think independently, recognize the difference between what is normal, abnormal, and pathological, and make thoughtful decisions they can look back on with confidence rather than regret.

Psychiatry, in his view, is not about providing answers—it is about helping people connect the dots. Through clarity, perspective, and self-understanding, patients become better equipped to navigate life’s uncertainties with wisdom, purpose, and confidence.
